The 30 Day Mommy Self-Care Challenge

The 30 Day Mommy Self-Care Challenge

As Mommas, we all know how important self-care is. I’ve been really slacking on the self-care front lately. I’ve been so busy between work that I’ve felt like I’m failing as a mom, and at the end of the day, there isn’t any room left for anything other than to collapse in a heap on the floor of exhaustion.

My most recent blog post touched base on how I am a Mom, but it is not only who I am. I am also a person completely separate from being a mom and I need to take care of myself if I’m going to be any good to anyone else! And sometimes, (all the time!) taking care of ourselves comes last, if at all.

I want to be better. I want to do better; as a mother to my son, and to myself. I also want to be a happier person. Not to say that I am not happy, because I am, but we all know that it takes work to be happy; it doesn’t just happen. As someone who has battled depression, I have to work at happiness and fight against sadness.

I want to be a better mom, and in order to do that I need to take time for myself, but I also need to dedicate time to my son, too. There are so many things that I want to do with my son everyday but there’s never enough time. And I feel like such a bad Mom at the end of the day sometimes. So I put together a list for a 30 Day Mom Challenge; a list of things I want to do every day. For myself, as well as for my son.

    I’m challenging you and 6 other Blogging Mommas on Twitter to put together their very own 30 Day Self-Care Mom Challenge;

  1. Wake up 15 Minutes Early…
Who doesn’t need a jump start on their day? Being rushed in the morning stresses me out!

  2. Read a New Blog Post Every Day & Comment…
I love reading almost as much as I love writing! I also make it my goal to support my fellow bloggers.
  3. Go a Whole Day Without Yelling…
I am not a patient mom; I know that. I feel so terrible for losing my temper. I’d like to make it a day without yelling at my son.
  4. Spend 15 Minutes Every Day Writing…
As a blogger or writer of any kind, it is important to do it every day! Not only does it feel good, but it’s important to make a habit out of writing every single day.
  5. Start Going for a Walk Every Night…
Fresh air feels so good and taking my son for a late evening stroll really calms my son down before bed.
  6. Stay Up Late and Watch a Move…
My boyfriend and I will watch an episode or 2 of a short show, but we rarely ever actually stay up and watch a movie.
  7. Paint My Nails…
I really enjoy painting my nails and having them look nice, but I never have the time anymore. It makes me feel good, so I’ve been trying to make more time for the little things.
  8. Go to the Library and Write for an Hour…
I love to have time to just sit and write, but that never happens at home.
  9. Get Up Early and Make Breakfast…
Nothing starts the day off right like making a good breakfast, but there’s never enough time for that in the morning being a working mom.
  10. Start Eating Healthier…
I want to start feeling better, and eating better has always been a goal of mine.
  11. Go to Bed an Hour Early…
How often as parents do we go to bed early? There’s always one more thing to be done.
  12. Cuddle with My Son in Bed…
We always set hard and fast rules about our bed being ours. We wanted that space to be for us, but I miss cuddling with my son.
  13. Take My Son to get an Ice Cream…
There’s nothing like an ice cold ice cream cone after a long, hot day!
  14. Go to the Local Play Place…
My son gets very bored with his toys, and I’d like to change it up and take him somewhere new!
  15. Stay Up Late and Read a Book…
As a parent, I am always tired, but I love reading. I couldn’t tell you the last time I stayed up late reading a good book.
  16. Put My Blog on WordPress…
My next big step as a blogger, and probably the most important!
  17. Buy Myself Some New Fall Clothes…
What woman doesn’t love clothes? As a mom, my son always comes first, but momma deserves some new fall clothes!
  18. Turn My Walk into a Jog…
As part of my movement to be healthier, I’d like to turn my nightly walk into a jog.
  19. Buy My Son a New Toy…
My son has had the same toys for a long time, since Christmas, other than some small, new toys and a bike. I’d like to get him a new toy that he loves!
  20. Take My Son to the Local Library…
A big part of teaching our children is reading, and I’d love for my son to love the library as much as I do!
  21. Get Myself a New Haircut…
Momma needs a new do! Part of self-care is feeling good, and nothing feels better than freshly cut locks of love!
  22. Get a New Pair of Stylish Boots…
I am not a huge shoe person. I have one pair of Tennis shoes and one pair of sandals and one pair of work shoes. Part of feeling good is looking good!
  23. Go Out for a Date Night…
Now that we have a new babysitter, I’d like to make a special date night plan for my boyfriend!
  24. Take My Son to the Park After Work…
I’m always so tired after a long day of work, but my son is never done. I’d like to start taking him to the park more regularly during the week.
  25. Go Have a Drink with a New Friend…
Aside from my boyfriend, I don’t have anyone to spend time with besides my son. I’d like to make a new friend and have a girl’s night!
  26. Take My Son to the Local Museum…
We just moved to a new city, and we’ve talked about going for a year since my boyfriend moved here and we still haven’t gone yet!
  27. Play Outside with My Son After Work…
At the end of the day, my son is always raring to go! Even though he’s been outside for 2 hours, he wants more. I’d like to make time for this more often as he gets older.
  28. Dye My Hair…
The last time I dyed my hair was January! It is loooooong overdue!
  29. Get Up Early and Put on My Makeup…
I usually sleep until the last possible minute, which leaves very little time for getting ready. I’d like to start getting up early and giving myself enough time to actually get ready.
  30. Go to the Zoo One More Time This Year…
My son absolutely loves the zoo! It’s a great place to run around and watch the animals! I’d love to take him one more time before winter gets here.

Self-care is so important. Make sure you take some time for yourself this week. Spend it on yourself. Go get that cup of coffee, buy that new outfit, write that blog post! Enjoy some quality one-on-one time with your little ones, do something you wouldn’t normally do. Seeing how much they enjoy it will be good for your soul. And as always, keep on loving those little ones like only you know how!

All right, Mommas! I’m calling you out! I’m challenging you to make your own 30 Day Self-Care Challenge! I’ve posted links to your blogs and Twitter profiles. Make sure you reference and link back to the Momma who came before you and be sure to mention 5 other Mom Bloggers! Link their Twitter profiles so others can find and follow them easily.
