You can read The Mom Blog WI’s full disclosure policy here. *** Part of teaching our little ones anything in life means integrating those subjects into their everyday life. It’s the only way they will learn consistently and actually grasp certain concepts. Toddlers need repetition and it’s a great way for them to learn. This is no different with letters and numbers. By age 2, my son was counting from 1-10, (while also infuriatingly skipping the…

Potty Training Adventures | Introducing Potty Training
| Potty Training Adventures | with The Mom Blog WI Introducing Potty Training Introducing Potty Training A little over a month ago, here at The Mom Blog household, we bought a potty training chair. We hemmed and we hawed about it for weeks. We wanted to introduce potty training because we didn’t want it to be a foreign concept to our toddler when the time came, but we also didn’t want it to backfire and make him completely opposed to the idea either. You can find The Mom Blog WI on Pinterest! I created a Potty Training Pinterest Board to kind of help and so I could pin…

Mindful Parenting | 10 Things to Try Instead of Telling Your Toddler, “No!” *** Disclaimer | This post contains affiliate links. This means I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. You can read The Mom Blog WI’s full disclosure policy here. *** Mindful parenting is a lot easier said than done. I struggle with being mindful before talking to, (or in this case yelling at) my toddler. If you’re like me, (and every other parent ever,) you’re struggling with your toddler acting out, being defiant, rebellious, and most of all, they’re not listening to you. Lately I’ve been very aware of how I interact with my son;…

Happy Parenting | But Today, We Did…
Today, I went for a walk with my son. We came home from a long day of work and the daycare and pickup, and as we were headed for the house, my son started to yell, “Ousside! Ousside!” This is our usual debate; he wants to go outside but I’m too tired. He’s so hungry, but he doesn’t even know it until it’s too late. Usually we don’t go outside after we get home because he goes outside for two hours a day at daycare already. To top it all off, the mosquitoes are so bad up here right now, so I usually end up carrying him…

11 Things To Try During Your Toddler’s Next Temper Tantrum…
11 Things To Try During Your Toddler’s Next Temper Tantrum…Instead of Losing Your Temper! Find The Mom Blog WI on Pinterest One of my first blog posts was called Where There’s A Temper Tantrum, where I reflected on what it must be like for my son, or any toddler for that matter, to go through a temper tantrum. I talked about how frustrating it must be for a toddler who is unable to properly express themselves. And I realized that “Where There’s A Temper Tantrum,” there is an unmet need or desire that he’s trying to tell me about and just can’t! “Where there’s a tantrum, there’s frustration and an unmet need…

Mindful Parenting | Put Yourself in Your Toddler’s Shoes
| Mindful Parenting | Put Yourself in Your Toddler’s Shoes It’s so important to put yourself in your little one’s shoes and try to see everyday from their perspective. It’s something I forget to do to so often, but when I take the time to slow down and actually think about, it’s so very enlightening. “We need to start looking at temper tantrums as emotional communication, instead of behavioral outbursts.” Related: But Today, We Did… A post about embracing the moment as a busy mom. We went home to visit our families a couple of weekends ago. My son and I spent some time with my mom while…

8 Things We Are Working On With Our Toddler
As some of you may know, my son recently turned two years old. A whole whopping 2 years have gone by and it feels like all I’ve done is blink and lose a lot of sleep. With the turning of another page and passing of another year, my son is growing up way too fast! Gone are the baby days, and in place is this little man that I hardly recognize anymore until I really look at him. Now there’s this toddler running around who is unbelievably independent, wants to do everything for himself and throws a fit whenever we do something for him. He also is really…
