The Road To Motherhood | Diaper Changes

    January 23, 2019 / 7 Comments

Do You Want to Know… What No One Told Me About Motherhood? Changing a baby, and then a toddler’s diaper, is a fiasco, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. No one thought to tell me this! Not one. Single. Soul.      No one thought that I needed time to mentally prepare for that. See, the pre-mom me had watched plenty of moms change their children’s diapers. And yes, there were plenty of times when I had seen it was an ordeal, of massive proportions! You always see the smiling mom on the TV commercial who’s bending over her precious little baby, getting ready to change their diaper while the baby’s cooing ever so sweetly. …

    10 Ways To Beat That Working-Mom Guilt…

    November 14, 2018 / 3 Comments

The Mom Blog WI10 Ways To Beat That Working Mom GuiltWe all know it’s hard being a working mom.     And I often feel tremendously guilty about all the time I spend away from my son while working. Although I’m working to provide a better life for him, it still makes it hard to be away.     The time we spend together is already so limited. It’s even harder when our time together is high stress, especially after a long, hard day. It really adds on to the guilt I feel when we don’t have good or happy interactions.      Now, I don’t have unrealistic expectations and I…

Toy Minimalism | I Took Away All My Son’s Toys…

    November 7, 2018 / 4 Comments

Toddlers, Toys & MinimalismI’m A Terrible Mom I took away all of my son’s toys…And we’ve never been happier! I don’t care what anyone  has to say about it…      A few weeks ago, I was at wits end! I couldn’t take it anymore! I just couldn’t get through to him and he wasn’t listening!!! I gathered up all of my son’s toys; I boxed them up, I threw them into totes and drawers and laundry baskets, and I shoved them all in the closet. I slammed the door and I turned off the lights and I slid down the door in defeat. I left out the big toys;…

    Crazy, Busy Life…

    October 22, 2018 / 2 Comments

Crazy, Busy Life… It’s been a crazy, busy week…     So I completely failed last week. I only made one lame blog post, which didn’t see very much traffic. I also haven’t been very active on Twitter, which means my engagement is at an all time low and my blog traffic has also greatly suffered due to just one week on inactivity. I didn’t get any other blog posts out and this weekend was such a mess, I didn’t get anything new prepared for this week. Last weekend I was sick, and I just got so far behind. I wasn’t able to do any blog planning and I spent…

An Open Letter | My Son’s Name is Jackson…

    October 5, 2018 / 0 Comments

To the people who give my son a nickname he hasn’t asked for…  His name is Jackson. Not Jax. Not Jack… Not Jaxxon. It’s Jackson.  I gave him that name because I wanted him to be called Jackson.     Not because I wanted his name to be shortened to Jax. Not because I wanted people like you to give him a nickname that he hasn’t asked for. Not when he can’t even tell you if he’s okay with being called anything other than his given name.     You’re making a decision for him. You’ve decided that it’s okay to call my son by a name other than his own,…

The Road To Motherhood: What No One Tells You

    September 24, 2018 / 4 Comments

Hi everyone! I’d like to introduce to you, The Road To Motherhood: What No One Tells You, a new weekly series by The Mom Blog WI about motherhood and all it entails! Each week I’ll be posting about the things no one told us about becoming a parent, the things that we wish we would’ve known about creating a little human being and becoming a mom. These things wouldn’t have necessarily made us change our mind about becoming parents, but it definitely would’ve been nice to know!  “When does Motherhood Begin?”     If you have any suggestions about what no one told you about motherhood, please feel…

The 30 Day Mommy Self-Care Challenge

    September 18, 2018 / 2 Comments

The 30 Day Mommy Self-Care Challenge      As Mommas, we all know how important self-care is. I’ve been really slacking on the self-care front lately. I’ve been so busy between work that I’ve felt like I’m failing as a mom, and at the end of the day, there isn’t any room left for anything other than to collapse in a heap on the floor of exhaustion. Related: I Am More Than Just A Mom: It Is Not My Only Title    My most recent blog post touched base on how I am a Mom, but it is not only who I am. I am also a person completely separate from…

The Mom Blog WI | From The Archives I am not just a Mom.It is not my only title… And I have to tell myself that  every, single, day.     Lately, there’s been very little time to just be me. And I’ve been doing a terrible job at doing anything that has to do with solely pleasing myself above all others. It’s a hard job…     I am still a Mom, though, I am not just me anymore. Being a mom is the most amazing job ever; it fills my heart but it also completely depletes my energy. It calls nearly all of my attention, and it is absolutely exhausting, and…
