October Blogging Goals

🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁

I just received an email with the header, “There’s less than 90 days until 2019,” and that hit me like a ton of bricks! Holy ****, there’s less than 3 months until we are in a new year again, which means even less time until Christmas!!! Where has this year gone?! So many things have happened and changed this year.

My recent blog post about working full-time was a turning point for me in my life. I realized that if I ever want to make a career out of writing, I need to start doing it now! Not when I'm finally ready. I'll never get ready if I don't start now. I'll never be ready. I need to make it happen now, and put in the time so that when I finally am ready and can dedicate my full attention to writing all the time, I already know what I'm doing; what works and what doesn't. And I realized that this blog can serve as a huge stepping stone to getting there. So I've really rededicated myself to my blog these last few months.

Related: Adjusting to the Full-Time Working Mom Life

I've always been motivated to write, but this last month especially, I've made a huge effort. I made 6 new blog posts in September, which is huge for me! Being a full-time working mom and trying to blog on top of it is a lot. But I've really made my blog a priority, and I've done it for the right reasons. Not because I want to make money, (which I'm not, I haven't even made 1 cent writing thus far,) but I'm doing it because someday my blog could play a huge part in getting where I want to go in life. It could be something I put on my resume one day to show that I know what I'm doing and I know how to be consistent and create content that works and draws people in! So I've laid out some pretty hefty and ambitious goals for myself for October.

I started my Twitter account on the February 1st, 2018, and I started blogging in June. I reached my first 1,000 followers by the end of July. After only 5 short amazing months on Twitter and only 1 month of blogging, 1,000 people had decided to follow me along on this amazing journey!!! After 2 more months, at the end of September, I had gained an additional 1,000 followers! In September I also reached 2,000 total all time views on my blog and I also made the decision to buy a domain name and move my blog to a self-hosted site, which is a huge step for my blog! I’m so excited about it!!!

So in honor of all of my accomplishments, I am pushing myself even harder in October and really making blogging my top priority(you know, second to working and being a mom and everything else that comes first.) But I want to make blogging my first choice for my free time. It makes me happy, and I'm trying to do what makes me happy and what's important to me. So here are my very ambitious goals for October. Any help would be greatly appreciated! *Wink*

My goals for October;
🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁

🍁 Reach 3,000 Followers by the end of October
🍁 Is it possible to gain an additional 1,000 followers in one month?
🍁 Be ready by November to move to a self-hosted blog.
🍁 Moving to a self hosted blog is huge for me. I want to have my email opt-in offer ready.
🍁 Have a blog post ready for every Monday, Wednesday & Friday of every week.
🍁 Post a NEW blog post twice a week, which would total 8 new blog posts in the month of October.
🍁 Have at least 2 guest blog posts this month.
🍁 Having a guest blogger is the next big step for my blog, and I already have one or two people lined up!
🍁 Go to the coffee shop every weekend for 2 hours.
🍁 I went last weekend for two glorious hours and it was so productive! I would really love to make that a habit.

What are your blogging goals for October?

Thank you so much for following along on my amazing journey. Your support means the world to me. I hope to inspire some of you and share my story along the way. As always, keep on loving those little ones like only you know how, and shoot for the stars this week, because the only one who can stop you is yourself.

  1. What a wonderful post! You inspire me. I love the natural flow of your train of thought here guiding me into why your goals are important for you and then sharing them with me. You bring me back to what matters. I started my blogs because I wanted to write; to be doing the thing I love most for the sake of doing it. Then I bought into the hope that I could make money doing it and became frustrated with my blog because I haven't been making money. When you reminded me that I am not only doing what I love, but building a track record of the kind of work I do, it suddenly hit me that it's all worth it even if I don't make a cent at the blog itself. My goals are to write with consistency and support other bloggers, which is why I popped over to your site. I'm snagging the feed address to use in my regular posts on social media. I follow your writing on the regular, but don't know how to actually "follow" a blogger account. I'm a wordpress girl myself.

    1. Ok, now I'm following you, figured it out!

    2. Hi Erica,

Thank you so much for commenting. Your regular support and readership means the world to me; you have no idea. This comment came at just the right time for me, as I was losing my way (yet again,) so thank you so much for that. I too have hopes and desires to make money blogging, but I know, as you said, that it is very frustrating and I worry about it taking the enjoyment out of it for me. It would be great to be able to make a living at it, but at this time I don't think it's possible. So for now it is a great creative outlet and like you said, someday it'll be a wonderful thing to have to refer back to and use as a possible reference to show how hard I've been working.

I am glad you found this just when you needed it, as well! I hope you'll find your way back to enjoying writing, for the sake of writing and connecting with others. You're right; it's truly important to be consistent but it is very difficult to do. All we can do is our best.
