Monday Motivation | Write That Blog Post

Monday Motivation
Write That Blog Post
"You'll never change your life until you change something you do daily."

As writers, bloggers and mothers, we all struggle with motivation. Some of us more than others and at different times than everyone else. I struggle for many reasons during the holiday season. Whether that be due to slight seasonal depression, lack of motivation/inspiration or just being plain busy, this time of year is hard for me to stay on the ball.

A friend of mine, One Caring Mom, does weekly inspirational blog posts at the start/end of the week before a new week begins, and I was so inspired by her idea and asked her if she wouldn't mind if I borrowed (stole, totally stole) her idea for my blog.

At the end of a long week, the last thing I want to do is sit down and stare at a computer, especially since I do that all week long at work. But at the beginning of the week, I'm usually trying to be motivated and inspired, and it's hard to keep that momentum going from the start. So with a little help from a friend, I've decided to do a weekly motivational series.

If you missed my first post in this series; Write That Blog Post

Inspiration and motivation can come from anywhere for anyone. When I'm feeling a little unmotivated, the quickest way for me to kick myself into gear is to look up inspirational quotes. It gets my brain clicking and I start thinking and analyzing, and ultimately I end up making progress. This week, these quotes really struck a cord with me in regards to writing, and maybe they will for you, too...

"Don’t watch
the clock.
Do what it does; keep going."

This is a very profound thought for me. What does a clock do? It just. Keeps. Going. It doesn’t stop, (unless of course it runs out of batteries...) But this also speaks to the side of me that seriously hates to love procrastinating and just looking at the clock, wasting time doing something when I could be writing. This week I’m making a promise to myself to just keep going, to just keep writing.

"No matter how many mistakes you make,
or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying."

This is a great reminder for me, or any writer, because I always worry that I’ll make mistakes and that usually keeps me from doing anything. The fear of making mistakes paralyzes me and keeps from doing anything! But I have to remind myself that I am also so much further than I was 5-6 months ago. I’ve come so far, and if I stop trying, I won’t get anywhere. If I want any chance at making a real go at this, I need to keep making mistakes so that I can keep learning and progressing, no matter how long that process takes.

"You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The key to your success is found in your daily routine."
Let me say that again... Your life will never change until you start doing something different daily.

This. Right here. This is the key to success.
“The definition of insanity
is doing the same thing over and over again
and expecting different results.”

You have to change what you’re doing, every day, even if it’s just a small thing! Even if it’s just one thing and that one thing is that you write for 15 minutes every day. That one small change can lead you to a whole world of other changes, and that will make a difference!

So make a change this week. Do something different tomorrow. And do that thing every day for a week. Challenge yourself. Change 15 minutes of your day and see what else changes.

What inspires or motivates you? How do you stay motivated? How do you get yourself motivated and interested in writing when you're having trouble? I'd love to hear your ideas! As always, keep on loving those little ones like only you know how, and make a change this week. Do it for yourself and for your future success. Make any change and see where that change takes you.

Happy Holidays!
